Turkey leftovers: 3–4 meals without buying more protein

The Monday after the feast, the fridge is full and motivation is low. A plan written before the meal stops you buying chicken while turkey waits.

Carve the same day

While meat is still warm: slices for sandwiches, cubes for stir-fries, carcass for stock. Twenty minutes saves three nights.

Fridge 3–4 days max for cooked meat; freeze the rest by day two.

Three meal types

Wraps or sandwiches, soup/stock + veg, gratin or fried rice. Change the sauce, not necessarily the protein.

Put them on the calendar (Tue / Thu / Sat). Otherwise “we’ll see” = delivery pizza + forgotten turkey.

What not to buy this week

Chicken, ham, or another big protein on flyer—unless turkey is already portioned and frozen.

On SimpleICI, steer deals toward veg and starches that complete leftovers.

Stock: the free bonus

Carcass + onion + carrot + water: 2–3 hours. Frozen in trays = soup base in November.

Short on time? Freeze the raw carcass and make stock later.

Safety and taste

Reheat thoroughly. Add acidity (lemon, vinegar) or herbs so meal three doesn’t taste like “still the feast”.

A leftover bowl + rice + veg is a full meal, not a guilty compromise.

Carve, calendar, no double protein. SimpleICI guides side deals; turkey does the protein cart’s job.
